HAIKUS URBAINS - 1997
Description:

This project could be considered as a reflection, a moment full of sensitivity, reflecting a society and its induced violence ; man and the city.

Intentions :

For a while I have been trying to bring to life and idea in my performances ; it can be summed up very simply in one sentence.

I am walking in the street and realize that I’m thinking about a multitude of incoherent things at the same time.

All this thought flow could be analysed but this is not what I’m after, what interests me is to work with idea associations, to find out how two ideas, thoughts or images follow eachother without joining together. They have a link, whether secret or obvious.

Two solitaries will interact with delayed responses, sometimes on the same themes sometimes on opposite or complementary themes.

Two solitaries will wander through familiar objects reacting in their own ways.

Two solitaries will confide their respective madness.

The city man is divided between daily life which he deals with well or not, and the political and social dimensions, which escape him if he is not active in a party or an ideology, even if he is conscious that the « fight » is only relative. The real work is that of man against himself or for himself.

The priority will be simplicity. A simple gestural and body language, accessible to everyone. I’m looking for movement which speaks directly to the gut or the heart. The movement becomes complex when it approaches the multiplicity of bodily dynamics through successive ruptures, suprises or reversals of situations.
